small sided sport games
Z ball-
Using a Z ball AKA reaction ball, have a partner drop the ball from shoulder height. After the ball bounces twice have the partner chase after it trying to catch it on as few extra bounces as possible.
Toss Z ball against the wall and after the first or second bounce try to catch the ball, at least trying to keep it in front of your body at all times
Flag grab-
Every player gets a flag belt. Players must confront another player and "challenge" them. Once a challenge has been made, they face off with each other trying to steal each others flag. Players cannot turn and run during the challenge.
Steal the Veggie- Define a playing area by having one player start at one point and the other player at a one point. Place an object in the middle of the two players. When the players decide to start they run to the middle to grab the object and try to bring it back to their staring point without being tagged by their opponent. If a person successfully return the object to their side, they get 3 points. If a player is tagged they get no points but the tagger receives one point. Play is to twenty-one.
*variation- Have groups of three line up across from each other. Have the group assign each player a number. Play the game the same as the original version but the teacher calls out a number and that player then tries to score points for their team by either stealing the veggie or tagging the opposing player who has the veggie.
*variation #2- same as original but players who are tagged have to drop the veggie where they are. Neither player can tag each other until on has picked it up again. First player back to their team wins the points.

Make a "pit" by standing up floor mats and making it into a circle. Players will play in the pit. The players will then move around inside the pit slapping balls trying to hit others on the foot with the ball. There needs to be one less ball than total players in the pit. Ex: 5 players 4 balls
Here it comes
The game begins with two teams, one on each side. One team has the ball and throws it while yelling "here it comes!" The throwing team then runs across to the other side and tries to tag the player on the receiving team who has the ball.
The player with the ball tries to get the ball across to the other side without getting tagged. The player with the ball may pass it to another teammate to advance the ball. If the player with the ball is tagged before they get to the other side, the tagging team wins the round. Likewise, if the team with the ball makes it across to the other side, they win the round. Alternate throwing teams to start each round.
Variations:
May either use a line to divide the two teams or stand up mats across the gym to add an element of surprise.
Keep teams small. (3-5) players per team Use pinnies to tell the teams apart.
Balance Ball Knock off-
Two players face each other while both are standing on a line or a balance log. Each person has a large gator skin ball. The object of the game is for each player to take a turn extending their arms to have their ball hit their partners ball. The player who is hitting their partner's ball is trying to knock their partner off the line or balance log. The partner is using the ball, trying to absorb the contact while remaining on the line or log.
Alternate turns.
Variations:
-Instead of using a ball have players shake hands and then on the signal try to pull your partner off the log or line.
-After each round, have players move around a find a new partner and then play.
Flag Grab
Each player needs a flag belt, scarf, or anything that can be used as a flag to be grabbed. Two players face off with each other. One person gives the go signal and each player begins moving in an attempt to steal their partners flag.
Rules:
-players must always be facing each other, no turning and running.
-blocking an opponents hand is OK, however a player may not hold their flag for defense.
When a player grabs their opponents flag, give the flag back and both players go find someone new to play!
Flippers-
Spread out a bunch of frisbees. Designate one group to flip the frisbees upside down and one group to flip the frisbee right side up. The catch is, each player uses their feet to do it.
Tiger Tails: Everyone gets a scarf and tucks it into the back of their waistband or back pocket. That is their tiger tail. You can do this with a variety of sports such as basketball or soccer. Using basketball for instance, have players dribble a ball with one hand while using the other hand to try to pull others tiger tails. If you steal one, you get to keep it. See how many you can collect.
